‘Yellowstone’ Return Gets Additional CBS Airing on Premiere Night

The return of Yellowstone is getting bigger.

In addition to its regular airing on Paramount Network, the show’s Nov. 10 premiere — its first original episode in 22 months — will also air on CBS. The broadcast network won’t simulcast the premiere, however; instead it will air at 10 p.m. ET/PT on CBS, two hours after it debuts on Paramount Network.

Yellowstone was traditional TV’s biggest show when it last aired in the 2022-23 season, and the CBS airing of the Nov. 10 episode will follow last season’s most popular network series, Tracker. The network also has an NFL doubleheader scheduled for that afternoon, which will deliver a large audience into CBS’ primetime lineup.

CBS also reaches millions more homes than does Paramount Network, allowing more potential viewers to tune in for the show.

The back half of Yellowstone’s fifth season will go ahead without Kevin Costner, who led the cast through its first four-plus years but left the series to film his western epic Horizon: An American Saga (and amid dueling versions of a behind-the-scenes dispute with showrunner Taylor Sheridan about how Costner’s character, John Dutton, would figure into the coming episodes).

The Nov. 10 airing won’t be CBS’ first rodeo with Yellowstone. The network aired episodes from early seasons last fall when it was without original scripted programming during strikes by writers and actors.
