Yankees Announcer John Sterling Colossally Flubs Name — And His Correction Is Priceless

Longtime New York Yankees broadcaster John Sterling calls them as he sees them ― and that’s not at all times factor.

He went viral for his hilariously fallacious description of a Giancarlo Stanton fly ball on Wednesday in opposition to the Toronto Blue Jays. (Test it out beneath.)

As Stanton related, the radio play-by-play veteran launched his signature residence run riff:

“That ball is excessive, it’s far, it’s gone!” he exclaimed. A number of beats later, after realizing that Blue Jays outfielder Raimel Tapia recorded the out on the warning observe, Sterling added: “However caught.”

“Boy I believed that was gone,” Sterling adopted.

Followers and critics on Twitter took their swings at Sterling.
