Saugus police investigating Thanksgiving Eve brawl at Kowloon Restaurant

Saugus police are investigating after an “unacceptable and disgusting” brawl broke out inside the packed Kowloon Restaurant on Thanksgiving Eve, officials announced Friday.

On Wednesday night, around 10:30 p.m., police responded to a fight in progress at the Kowloon on Route 1, according to the Saugus Police Department.

Six officers who were already working at the restaurant as part of a detail were able to de-escalate the altercation, police said.

Several young men who were involved were detained and questioned by officers. They were also provided medical attention.

The restaurant and bar closed early due to the fracas.

Video sent to Boston 25 showed shoves and punches being thrown inside the popular Route 1 staple. Someone even appears to pick up a glass and smash it over another patron’s head.

No arrests were made but an investigation into the incident is ongoing. Police noted that charges may come at a later time because one individual allegedly used a glass bottle in the fight, which is a felony offense.

“The Kowloon is a family-friendly restaurant, unfortunately, a few unruly patrons ruined a nice evening for many others. A disturbance such as this on Thanksgiving Eve is unacceptable and disgusting.” Saugus Police Chief Michael Ricciardelli.

Police are still speaking with witnesses and anyone with information is asked to contact police
