Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) can be pleased to provide Donald Trump the “equal time” he’s demanding to current his personal story concerning the U.S. Capitol riot amid the hearings by the Home choose committee investigating the occasions of Jan. 6, 2021.
Only one factor: He’ll should do it below oath, in a witness chair, says Swalwell. Or, as he stated in a tweet Thursday, “Equal time means sitting your mendacity ass in a witness chair. We’ll wait.”
Trump little doubt was envisioning an unchallenged speech on prime-time community TV.
Mockingly, Trump battled to not testify and even cooperate with the committee’s investigation, as did lots of his his aides and allies, who both refused to even flip up for questioning (onetime White Home strategist Steve Bannon and Trump’s former commerce adviser Peter Navarro), or pleaded the Fifth 100 instances (“coup memo” lawyer John Eastman, who then sought a pardon).
