Police fire shots during arrest after Delft shooting incident

Police fired shots in Delft on Saturday evening when they arrested two men in connection with a shooting. No one was injured. However, a 20-year-old man from Delft was seriously injured in the shooting that took place before the arrest.

The victim called emergency services around 11 p.m. and stated that he had been shot at. The officers found him injured at Poptahof Noord, and he was taken to hospital. Later, it turned out that the shooting in which he was wounded took place on the corner of Papsouwselaan and Westlandseweg.

The officers then saw two men walking, one of whom matched the suspect’s description. As the fleeing suspects were possibly armed, the officers drew their weapons, and one of them fired a shot.

The suspects, a 28-year-old man from Delft and a 56-year-old man of no known residence, were detained for questioning. During their escape, the men seemed to have thrown away some narcotics. These were seized for the investigation.
