Netflix’s ‘No Good Deed’ Teaser Puts Lisa Kudrow, Ray Romano at the Center of a Real Estate Frenzy

Los Angeles is a killer real estate market — maybe literally, in the case of Netflix‘s upcoming series No Good Deed.

The streamer has released a first teaser for the dark comedy from Dead to Me creator Liz Feldman. The show, which premieres Dec. 12, follows Lydia and Paul (Lisa Kudrow and Ray Romano), who are now empty nesters and decide to start anew by listing their gorgeous, century-old home in one of L.A.’s most desirable neighborhoods.

Cue the frenzy, as “multiple families all race to buy what they believe to be their dream house, convinced it will fix all of their very different problems,” the show’s description reads. “But as Lydia and Paul know all too well, sometimes the home of your dreams can be a true nightmare. As they struggle to hide the dark and dangerous secrets that linger inside their longtime home, Paul and Lydia begin to realize that the only way they’ll escape the past is to finally face it.”

The teaser (watch it below) doesn’t hint too much at what those “dark and dangerous secrets” are, but there are brief shots of people peering out of windows or through a hole in a wall, a handgun and someone’s hand being put into dangerous proximity to a table saw — and Lydia and Paul surveilling their prospective buyers from a locked room. Poppy Liu’s character notes that the house is “a little darker than I was expecting … like a dark vibe.”

The No Good Deed cast also features Linda Cardellini, O-T Fagbenle, Abbi Jacobson, Denis Leary, Teyonah Parris and Luke Wilson in regular roles, along with guest stars Matt Rogers, Kate Moennig, Chloe East, Rory Scovel, Wyatt Aubrey, Kevin Alves and Linda Lavin, with Anna Maria Horsford.

Netflix gave the show a straight-to-series order in 2022, with Feldman saying at the time that No Good Deed was inspired by her “maniacally searching Zillow” during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic: “I’m endlessly grateful to Netflix for being such a supportive creative home and for continuing to allow me to turn my crippling anxiety into entertainment.”

Feldman executive produces with Silver Tree, who directed six of the eight episodes (Feldman helmed the other two), and Christie Smith, Jessica Elbaum and Will Ferrell of Gloria Sanchez Productions. Feldman, Madie Dhaliwal, Cara DiPaolo, Crystal Jenkins, Kelly Hutchinson, Bruce Eric Kaplan and Zora Bikangaga are the credited writers.
