Man arrested after deadly stabbing in DOCO area of Sacramento
Sacramento police said they arrested a man in connection with a deadly stabbing in a busy part of the city’s Downtown Commons area. Malik Wilson, 23, was arrested on homicide-related charges, the Sacramento Police Department said. Police said Malik was detained and arrested Wednesday around 5 p.m. near Marconi Avenue and Calderwood Lane.The man who died was identified by Sacramento County officials as 22-year-old Laronn Derose Wilson II. He was stabbed by a patio space outside the Golden 1 Center while many were waiting to see contemporary Christian singer Lauren Daigle perform.Officers said the two were not related, but the two knew each other and both were unhoused individuals.Police said officers around 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday went to the busy shopping and dining plaza for a report of a stabbing. There, they found a man, later identified as Wilson II, with at least one stab wound.Police said the man was sent to the UC Davis Medical Center in critical condition, and he later died of his injuries. The Downtown Commons, colloquially referred to as DOCO, is widely known as an entertainment corridor that connects with Old Sacramento and K Street.
