Lansing area under flood watch as remnants of Hurricane Beryl arrive in Michigan


LANSING – The Lansing area is under a flood watch as the remnants of Hurricane Beryl moves across the U.S. and into the Midwest.

Heavy rain from the hurricane that pummeled Texas and killed at least four people is expected to arrive in Michigan Tuesday evening and bring widespread rain.

Forecasters said 2-4 inches of rain is expected across a wide area from Holland and Battle Creek further east to Ionia, Charlotte, Lansing, St. Johns and Mt. Pleasant, with 4-6 inches of rain possible in the watch area.

The watch, which takes effect at 11 a.m. Tuesday through 8 p.m. Wednesday, includes Eaton, Ingham and Clinton counties as well as Van Buren, Kalamazoo, Calhoun, Jackson, Ken, Allegan and Barry counties.
