Chloe Fineman Posts (And Deletes) TikTok Claiming Elon Musk Made Her “Burst Into Tears” on ‘SNL’
Bowen Yang kick started a Saturday Night Live mystery two months ago when he appeared opposite Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live. During a game of “Truth or Kink,” Cohen asked Yang to reveal “without naming names” the worst SNL host behavior he’d witnessed during his tenure on the NBC sketch comedy show.
Yang did not reveal a name but did share specifics. “This man — this person — this host made multiple cast members cry on Wednesday before the table read because he hated the ideas.” In the weeks since, fans and online sleuths have been filling up comments sections with theories as to who it could be. Part of the mystery was solved on Monday.
Current cast member Chloe Fineman raised her hand to identify herself as one of those cast members, and she did so today on the heels of Musk slamming SNL for its impression of him and president-elect Donald Trump on Saturday.
“OK, I just saw some news article about Elon Musk being like butt-hurt over SNL and his impression, but I’m like you’re clearly watching the show, like what are you talking about?” she said in opening the clip. “And I’m like, you know what? I’m gonna come out and say at long last that I’m the cast member that he made cry. And he’s the host that made someone cry.”
Fineman noted that she saw “some articles and stuff” about the situation in an obvious nod to coverage following Yang’s appearance on Watch What Happens Live opposite his Las Culturistas co-host Matt Rogers. “And I was like I’m not gonna say anything. But I’m like, no, if you’re gonna go on your platform [X] and be rude, guess what? You made I, Chloe Fineman burst into tears because I stayed up late writing a sketch. I was so excited, I came in, I asked if you had any questions and you stared at me like you were firing me from Tesla and were like, ‘It’s not funny.’”
Fineman continued: “I waited for you to be like, ‘Ha ha, jk.’ No, then you started pawing through my script, like flipping each page, being, like, ‘I didn’t laugh once, not one time.’” Despite the absence of laughs, the sketch made it on the Musk-fronted show, “and it was fine,” she added. “I actually had a really good time and I thought you were really funny in it. But, you know. Have a little manners here…sir.”
Though Fineman did not mention the sketch’s title, it’s been reported that Fineman was referencing “The Oooli Show.” The skit casts Musk as a bespectacled producer named Ragnarok who repeatedly tries to get the attention of Ooli (Fineman), Iceland’s “number one social media star” and the zany host of a pop culture TV show on Icelandic Public Television.
Fineman posted the TikTok clip on Monday afternoon. It remained up on her account for several hours but as of 6:20 p.m. PT, Fineman had deleted the video. THR has reached out to reps for Fineman and Musk for additional comment.
