June 02, 2024 BROOKLYN, New York – Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a teen boy found in a Brownsville apartment building on Sunday morning, cops said.

According to police, a 14-year-old boy was shot in the chest in a fifth floor unit at the Howard Houses NYCHA complex around 10am, in Brooklyn.

The teen boy was rushed by first responders to Brookdale Hospital, but could not be saved and was pronounced deceased, officials say.

We spoke with a person that lives in the building who talked with us under anonymity due to them also knowing the family.

The resident stated the 14-year-old boy was allegedly shot in the chest by his 11-year-old male cousin while the two were playing with a firearm.

When police brought the 11-year-old out the building the resident said the boy was was crying and saying outloud “I didn’t mean to do it, I didn’t mean to do it” as officers walked him to a police vehicle.

Police are speaking with the young relative of the deceased teen trying to piece together what led up to the shooting with charges pending a full investigation.

The incident occurred at around 10:25 a.m., on 80 Osborne Street in the Brownsville neighborhood in Brooklyn.
